In the face of rapid changes in the general environment and increasing competition in the industry, the introduction of Industry 4.0 into the manufacturing industry is an unavoidable trend. Smart manufacturing is already a transformation and challenge that factories have to do. In addition to maintaining the competitiveness of the enterprise, the enterprise must change in order to have a chance of survival. However, smart manufacturing is not only the part of robot automation. It needs to start with networking equipment and effectively introduce smart parts such as MES and industrial big data to have the opportunity to enhance the overall competitiveness of the manufacturing industry.

However, although Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing has been the focus of attention, there is still much talk and less work, more theory and less practice, and there are very few practical cases for reference. This will cause that the factories which want to import Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing are at the scrabble stage and be unable to plan a clear import plan through reference of various cases. Thus they are hesitating or simply waste a lot of resources. Therefore, this course started from the practical introduction process, and it introduced the architecture of smart manufacturing and the various obstacles that the factories would need to overcome. In the stage of theory elaboration, practical cases would be introduced. In addition to allowing students to have a more in-depth understanding, it can also be used as a reference to plan the system architecture of own company and introduction plan, which will help improve the company's overall efficiency.
